McClatchy laid off 12 journalists at the Lexington Herald-Leader and eliminated a majority of its positions, as a part of its deep, nationwide layoffs. McClatchy, a subsidiary of the Chatham Asset Management hedge fund, began announcing major layoffs at newspapers across the county Thursday morning, including at the Lexington Herald-Leader.
