Employment in the Las Vegas area rose by 7,000 jobs, or 0.6 percent, from July to August, according to seasonally adjusted figures from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. Compared with a year earlier, employment locally was up by 14,200 jobs, or 1.2 percent.
