Sources & Attribution Policy
Sources & Attribution Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Listing.Press is a public information and aggregation platform that organizes information from a range of publicly accessible sources.
We believe readers should be able to understand where important information originates. Our sourcing approach is based on transparency, traceability, relevance, and responsible attribution.
Source Transparency
Listing.Press aims to identify the original or most authoritative source of material whenever reasonably possible.
Sources may include:
- Government agencies
- Municipal and local authorities
- Emergency services
- Law enforcement and public safety agencies
- Transportation authorities
- Weather and environmental agencies
- Courts and public records
- Educational institutions
- Companies and organizations
- Official press releases
- Public statements
- Public databases
- News organizations
- Community submissions
- Other publicly accessible information
The inclusion of a source does not constitute endorsement of that source, its organization, its views, or its activities.
Primary Sources
Whenever reasonably available and appropriate, Listing.Press prioritizes primary sources.
Examples include:
- Official government announcements
- Agency notices
- Public records
- Direct company statements
- Court documents
- Official social media statements
- Emergency alerts
- Transportation notices
- Weather agency data
- Original research or reports
Secondary reporting may also be used when it contributes additional context, confirms information, or provides information that is not otherwise reasonably accessible.
Attribution
When third-party material contributes materially to a Listing.Press publication, we aim to identify the relevant source.
Attribution may take different forms depending on the material, including:
- A source name
- A link to the original publication
- A reference to the relevant organization
- Identification of an official statement or record
- Identification of the publisher responsible for the original reporting
Where possible, links are intended to direct readers to the original or authoritative source rather than obscure the source of the information.
Aggregated Information
Listing.Press may collect information from multiple publicly accessible sources and organize it into a more accessible format.
Aggregation may include:
- Geographic organization
- Topic categorization
- Summarization
- Consolidation of multiple sources
- Timeline organization
- Cross-referencing
- Identification of relevant jurisdictions
- Updates to previously published information
Listing.Press does not claim ownership over facts, public records, statements, documents, photographs, reporting, or other material created by third parties merely because that information appears in an aggregated publication.
Summaries and Paraphrasing
Listing.Press may summarize or paraphrase information originally published elsewhere.
Summaries are intended to communicate relevant factual information without unnecessarily reproducing the original publication.
Readers who require full context are encouraged to consult the original source.
Where a third-party publication provides significant original reporting, Listing.Press aims to make the source identifiable.
Multiple Sources
For some topics, Listing.Press may rely on more than one source.
Multiple sources may be used to:
- Verify factual claims
- Resolve conflicting information
- Add local context
- Update developing stories
- Compare official statements
- Distinguish confirmed information from unconfirmed reports
The existence of multiple sources does not necessarily mean that every individual statement has been independently verified by Listing.Press.
Developing Information
Information relating to breaking events may change rapidly.
Sources may:
- Correct previous statements
- Publish new figures
- Change estimates
- Withdraw claims
- Update locations or timelines
- Provide additional context
Listing.Press may update its publications when reliable new information becomes available.
The most recent information available from the original source should generally be considered more authoritative than an earlier Listing.Press summary.
Public Records and Government Information
Listing.Press may use information contained in public records, government publications, regulatory filings, public notices, court documents, and other official materials.
The availability of such information does not mean that Listing.Press is affiliated with, authorized by, or acting on behalf of the issuing authority.
Official documents should be interpreted in their original context.
News Organizations
Listing.Press may reference reporting from news organizations where relevant.
Where a news organization has conducted original reporting, Listing.Press aims to provide appropriate attribution and does not claim that reporting as its own.
Listing.Press generally seeks to summarize relevant facts rather than reproduce substantial portions of third-party articles.
Copyright ownership remains with the respective rights holders.
Photographs, Images and Media
Photographs, graphics, video, maps, screenshots, and other media may be owned by third parties.
Where third-party media is used, Listing.Press aims to provide appropriate attribution where applicable and to use material in a manner consistent with applicable rights, permissions, licenses, or legal exceptions.
A source credit does not itself create permission to use copyrighted material.
If you are a rights holder and believe material has been used improperly, please contact us through our Legal Contact page.
Social Media Sources
Publicly accessible social media posts may sometimes be used as sources.
The fact that content is publicly visible does not automatically establish that it is accurate.
Listing.Press may consider factors including:
- Whether the account is official
- Whether the account can reasonably be authenticated
- Whether other sources corroborate the claim
- Whether the post is presented as firsthand information
- Whether the information has subsequently been corrected or removed
Social media content should not automatically be interpreted as independently verified information.
Community Sources
Listing.Press may receive information, photographs, reports, corrections, or other material from members of the public.
Community submissions may be:
- Reviewed
- Edited
- Summarized
- Categorized
- Verified where practicable
- Declined
- Removed
Community submissions are not automatically treated as verified facts.
Where appropriate, the origin or verification status of community-provided information may be disclosed.
Automated Source Discovery
Listing.Press may use automated systems, software, feeds, APIs, search technologies, or artificial intelligence tools to identify publicly available information.
Automated discovery does not make the automated system the source of the information.
Where possible, the underlying publisher, organization, document, record, or original source remains the relevant source.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools may assist with tasks such as:
- Source discovery
- Classification
- Deduplication
- Summarization
- Formatting
- Translation
- Identification of related information
AI-generated output is not treated as a primary source.
When an AI-assisted publication is based on external information, the underlying sources remain more authoritative than the generated summary.
Source Reliability
Not all sources have equal reliability.
Listing.Press may consider factors such as:
- Proximity to the event or information
- Official authority
- Publication history
- Supporting documentation
- Independent corroboration
- Transparency
- Whether the source has corrected previous errors
A source being publicly accessible does not automatically make it reliable.
Conflicting Sources
Different sources may sometimes provide contradictory information.
Where significant conflicts exist, Listing.Press may:
- Attribute competing claims separately
- Prefer an authoritative primary source
- Mark information as unconfirmed
- Delay publication
- Update the publication later
- Remove information that cannot reasonably be supported
We aim not to present disputed information as established fact without appropriate context.
Source Links
Links to external websites are provided for reference and transparency.
Listing.Press does not control external websites and is not responsible for:
- Changes to third-party content
- Broken links
- External privacy practices
- External advertising
- Malware or security issues on third-party sites
- Subsequent removal or alteration of source material
An external link does not imply endorsement.
Corrections to Sources or Attribution
If an attribution is incorrect, incomplete, or links to the wrong source, Listing.Press may correct the relevant publication.
Requests regarding source attribution may be submitted through our Legal Contact page.
Please include, where possible:
- The Listing.Press URL
- The material concerned
- The correct source
- Supporting documentation
- Your relationship to the material, where relevant
Copyright and Ownership
Listing.Press respects the intellectual property rights of third parties.
Unless otherwise stated, third-party names, trademarks, photographs, publications, documents, graphics, and other materials remain the property of their respective owners.
Listing.Press does not claim ownership of third-party material solely because it has been referenced, summarized, indexed, categorized, or linked on the platform.
Independence
Listing.Press is an independent platform.
Source attribution does not create a partnership, sponsorship, agency relationship, endorsement, or affiliation between Listing.Press and the referenced source unless explicitly stated.
