A FY2025 audit found some South Dakota motorists overpaid motor vehicle excise tax after trade-in values were entered incorrectly in the new 605Drive system. (KOTA) – South Dakota’s transition to its new 605Drive vehicle registration system resulted in some motorists paying more motor vehicle excise tax than they owed.
