The U.S. Department of Justice said prosecutors are pursuing “death-eligible charges” and plan to seek the death penalty against the suspect accused of killing a National Guard member and wounding another near the White House in November. The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, has pleaded not guilty to federal charges including first-degree murder.
